Aerospace Components Investigation System

Aerospace industry mechanical parts internal structure investigation, based on transmission and respectively backscattered X-Ray radiation images analysis.

A new portable advanced X-Ray scanning Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) system having two components, with main applications in Aerospace industry mechanical parts internal structure investigation, based on transmission and respectively backscattered X-Ray radiation images analysis. The systems use high-resolution, low-noise and high-speed technical solutions allowing in depth 3D analysis of complex internal structure of scanned objects, based on using two innovative and unique solutions: X-Ray transmission scan by a TDI (Time Delay Integration) X-ray linear array detector and a collimated programmed scan for measuring backscattering radiation coming from internal scanned objects.

The NDT system is intended to be used in the manufacturing stage of aerospace parts, such as:  Spacecraft, Rockets, boosters, propellant reservoir, human space shuttle, satellites structures and other aerospace critical components, but also for reusable Spacecraft pre-launch and turnaround inspection, for reusable solid rockets motor inspection, etc.. The developed technique would have also an important impact in aeronautical applications, in aircraft components designing stage and in their maintenance program, in between flights periodically inspection.
